More Room to Serve in North Austin
We’ve officially moved into our expanded North Austin resource center, making more room to walk alongside the growing number of families reaching out for support. With a 30% increase in requests in recent years, this new permanent space gives us the capacity to keep showing up with essentials, connection, and trauma-informed care.
“We did a heat map of where the greatest needs [are] that we're seeing based on the requests that we're getting, and this ZIP code was the red zone,” said Chrystal Smith, founder and CEO of Foster Village.
What started as a grassroots passion project in 2016 now serves families in nearly 80 counties across the country. This new space is one more step forward in our long-term mission to go further upstream and build real, lasting support for children and caregivers.
“I think as a nonprofit, especially in the child welfare space, our end goal and vision is to work ourselves out of a job,” Smith said. “So we want to continue going further upstream and plugging in the community where we can in ways that are preventing kids from the crises that lead to them being in foster care in the first place.”
