Jessie Van Slyke
Associate Director of Operations
Jessie grew up in the middle of the cornfields of Nebraska and moved to Minnesota to attend North Central University in Minneapolis. She graduated in 2013 with a degree in Media Communications and has spent time working in marketing and media management for an author, nonprofit events, and food blogging (which is how she learned her way around tech and the world wide web).
Jessie stumbled on Foster Village when she moved to Austin in 2015. She was looking for a place to volunteer and ended up connecting with founders, Ellen and Chrystal, who asked her to help create the Foster Village newsletter. Then, after Jessie and her husband, Kevin, became licensed foster parents and got their first placement, Foster Village provided everything they needed. Jessie officially joined the Foster Village team in 2021.
Jessie and Kevin have two sons, Liam and Elijah, adopted from foster care. The family has a pup named Bandit and three cats - Wendell, Willa, and Albie. Jessie loves to read, cook, swim, and hike.
